Wheat is a cereal grain and the most widely-cultivated food crop in the world. Wheat seeds are rich in carbohydrate, and have considerably higher protein than other major cereals. When ground into flour, wheat can be used in a wide variety of food products, from breads and cakes, to pastas and porridges, to fermented beverages.
