Foxtail millet (Setaria italica) is a widely cultivated species of millet. It is the most common species of millet in Asia and the second-most widely planted worldwide.
Foxtail millet is an important crop in India, especially in the more arid regions. Historically, foxtail millet was the most important crop in China before the introduction of wheat, and is still cultivated in portions of the drier upland regions.
Other names for the species include dwarf setaria, foxtail bristle-grass, giant setaria, green foxtail, Italian millet, German millet, and Hungarian millet.
