Common wheat (Triticum aestivum), also called bread wheat, is a species of wheat. It is the most widely cultivated species of wheat in the world, representing 95% of world wheat production.
Common wheat is descended from einkorn wheat and wild goat grass. It was domesticated in Western Asia in prehistory and spread across North Africa, Europe and East Asia.
