Macedonia, or macédoine, is a mixture of raw or cooked fruit or vegetables, served hot or cold. The term is largely obsolete today but was common in the early 20th century.

Name origins

From Macedonia, region of south-eastern Europe and former territory of Alexander the Great. Possibly due to belief in the 18th century that Alexander's Macedonian empire was formed of many diverse cultures. First attested 1740.
