Currant is a term that can refer to several different fruits, depending on usage. It may refer to fruits of the Ribes genus, especially redcurrant, blackcurrant and white currant (sometimes also called gooseberries). Outside the United States, "currant" may also refer to Zante currant, which are actually dried black Corinth grapes; in the US these will usually be explicitly named.
