Cup can mean several things in a culinary context:
- A cup is an open-top drinking vessel for hot or cold liquids, made of glass, metal, stoneware, china, or plastic.
- A measuring cup, usually abbreviated to simply "cup," can refers to a unit of volume in the US Standard system, equal to 8 fluid ounces, or about 237-240 mL. Alternatively, and less commonly, "measuring cup" can refer to the actual scoop used for measuring, of an size.
- A cup cocktail, also called a fruit cup, is a style of cocktail made by mixing a spirit with liqueur, fruit, and mixers together with crushed or cubed ice in the serving glass. See, for example, Pimm's Cup, Bishop cup, etc.
