Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil derived from the pulp of the fruit of oil palm trees.
It is not the same as palm kernel oil, which is derived from the kernel of the palm tree fruit, or with coconut oil, which is from the kernel of the coconut palm. Natural palm oil has significantly less saturated fat than palm kernel oil, though once palm oil is purified and fractionated (usually then described as "modified palm oil"), it can be highly saturated.
