Nougat is a type of confection made with sugar or honey, whipped egg white, and roasted nuts. It is made by whipping sweetened egg whites with a hot sugar syrup in order to form a light and chewy candy.
Regional specialties are common. In Spain, it is known as turrón, and in Italy, torrone is a well-known variation.
