Sportskage (plural Sportskagen; Danish "sports cake") is a Danish cake, with with crushed nougat and whipped cream on a macaroon base, decorated with small cream puffs (choux pastry) balls garnished with caramel (as in croquembouche).
It was invented in 1891 for the opening of the play, "Sports Man" by Conditori La Glace in Copenhagen, where it continues to be a specialty of the house.
