The mandarin orange (or mandarine) is a citrus fruit. The fruit is smaller than most oranges and has a squashed, oblate shape.
Mandarins are the ancestor of many popular citrus fruits. Tangerines are all hybrids of mandarin with pomelo, as is the common sweet orange.
