In France, Appellation d'origine contrôlée, or AOC, meaning "controlled designation of origin", is a certification of authenticity granted to certain geographical indications for wines, cheeses, butters, and other agricultural products.
Most products with an AOC designation also have a protected designation of origin (PDO) under EU law and UK law.
