Shiro, or shiro wat, is an Ethiopian and Eritrian stew of powdered chickpeas or broad beans with onion, garlic, and sometimes ginger, tomato, and chili peppers. When spicy and red, it is metin shiro; when it is mild, it is nech shiro.
