Zhug (Hebrew), s'rug, sahawiq (Yemeni Arabic), also called bisbas (Arabic) is a hot sauce, originally from Yemen, which is now used across the Middle East. It is made with cilantro , green chilies (or, occasionally red chilies ), and garlic , and may be spiced with cardamom , black pepper , cardamom , cumin , or coriander .
