Sazón (Spanish, seasoning) is the name of several seasoning and flavor bases used in Latin American cooking. In Cuba, sazón is a dry spice mix, often including oregano , coriander , cumin , turmeric , garlic powder , paprika , and black pepper . In the Dominican Republic, sazón refers to a cooked mixture of bell peppers , onions , garlic , oregano , vinegar , and tomato paste , similar to a sofrito .
