Pastelón

Pastelón is a baked casserole dish prepared in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, made with plantains and other ingredients. In the Dominican Republic the plantains are typically mashed and then layered with ground meat, beaten eggs, and cheese, while in Puerto Rico the plantains are typically cut into strips, fried, and layered with a savory sauté of meat, vegetables, and herbs, a cheese, and a bechamel or marinara sauce .
