Gochujang is a spicy Korean chili paste used extensively in Korean cooking. It is typically made from gochugaru chili powder, glutinous rice, meju fermented soybean powder, and salt. Occasionally a sweetener is added.
Gochujang is is an important ingredient in a number of dishes, including bibimbap, tteokbokki, and sundubu-jjigae, among other salads, stews (jjigae), and soups.
