The cayenne pepper (Capsicum annuum) is a moderately hot chili pepper used worldwide. The pepper grows as a 10 to 25 cm long skinny red fruit, and is used whole, chopped, or ground into a powder, sold as Cayenne powder. Most varieties are generally rated at 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville units.
