Parfait refers to one of two desserts. In the American tradition it is made with layers of a sweet dairy ingredient such as yogurt or whipped cream , alternated with layers of fruit , jam , nuts , or liqueurs . In the French preparation it is a boiled custard of cream, egg, sugar, and syrup.
