A Cornish split is a medium-sized, lightly sweetened bread roll that is served as an alternative to a scone as part of a cream tea. The cream tea ritual, as practiced in Cornwall, is to split a scone or "split roll", apply strawberry jam to each half, and then apply clotted cream. The Cornish split is somewhat larger than the Devonshire split, a similar roll that is used for cream tea in Devonshire.
