Conger, or conger eel (Conger spp.) is a genus of marine eels. In Japanese, they are known as anago and are a popular food item for sushi, kabayaki, tempura, nabemono, sunomono, chawan mushi, and mirinboshi.
The whitespotted conger, Conger myriaster, is an important commercial fish in Asia. In Japan, it is known as ma-anago
