Sopa de lima is a traditional Yucatanese soup. It is made with a light turkey or chicken broth, seasoned with spices including oregano, cloves, and cumin. The critical seasoning is the local Yucatecan variety of citrus known as lima - which is not lime, but is known elsewhere as the limetta (Citrus limetta), sweet lemon, or sweet lime.
It is usually served with fried corn tortilla strips and habanero chili.
