Rum balls are a confection that is popular across much of Europe, especially as a winter holiday treat. They are typically made by combining crushed cookie or cake crumbs, cocoa, and rum into a paste, which is shaped into balls and rolled in dessicated coconut, sugar, cocoa, or sprinkles. They may then be refrigerated but are not baked, so the alcohol of the rum is present in the final product.
