A puffy taco is a variation of the taco , reportedly invented in San Antonio, Texas. Puffy tacos are made with uncooked masa dough which is quickly deep-fried , expanding due to the action of steam to create a puffy, crispy shell. They are then filled with toppings as a normal taco .
