Mendiants are a French dessert made of almonds, figs, hazelnuts, and raisins set in dark chocolate. They can be seen as an ancestor of chocolate bark.

Name origins

So called because the colors of the fruits and nuts recall the dress of the four Roman Catholic mendicant orders.
