Medallion

A medallion is any food item that is cut into a round or oval shape for preparation and service. It was originally synonymous with tournedos, meaning a medallion of beef tenderloin (the alternate term collops being applied to mutton or veal), but is now used for any meat, fish, or fowl that has this shape.
