Light rum, also called white rum or silver rum, is lightly aged, filtered rum. It is usually clear or very lightly colored. While it might be briefly aged in oak barrels, the filtration process removes most of the heavier flavors, leaving a naturally sweet, light, spirit that is well suited to sweet and fruit-based cocktails.
