Kaiserschmarrn is an Austrian dessert of torn pancakes, mixed and baked with lemon, raisins, and powdered sugar, and served with a plum sauce.

Word origins

Austrian German Kaiser "emperor", schmarren "rubbish, trash".
Legend has it that Emperor Franz Joseph liked to have pancakes for dessert, and that if the cook made them too thick or they tore during preparation, they were served to the staff as "Kaiserschmarrn", because they were not good enough for the Emperor.
