Goma dofū is Japanese " sesame tofu ." Made from pulverized, thickened sesame seeds , it tastes nothing like tofu but is formed into firm, baked squares that resemble tofu's texture and visual appearance. It is usually served savory, accompanied by wasabi , and is used extensively in the Buddhist temple cuisines of shõjin ryori and fucha ryōri .
