Baba au rum, also rum baba, baba au rhum, is a yeasted cake, often mixed with raisins, and soaked in kirsch or rum after baking, and topped with pastry cream or whipped cream. By extension, a baba is a small cake, nearly always in a circular shape, that is enriched by soaking in a syrup after baking.
