Alaska pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus, also Theragra chalcogramma) is a marine fish of the North Pacific Ocean. It is not a true pollock but is actually a member of the cod family.
It is fished extensively and used for food worldwide. It is considered the national fish of Korean cuisine, where it is called myeongtae, and used to produce numerous additional products.
