Tomato fondue is a classical French preparation of tomato in which tomatoes are peeled, pressed, chopped, and cooked in butter, usually with garlic. It is then used as a garnish or as a filling. It is not particularly related to the usual modern meaning of fondue, that is, a heated pot of liquid in which food items are heated table-side.
