Striped marlin is a large predatory fish found in tropical and temperate parts of the Indian and Pacific ocean. It is a saught-after commerical and game fish, which has led to overfishing.

Conservation status

Striped marlin populations are overfished in most areas. Striped marlin caught by Hawaiian fishers with deep-set longlines are rated a GOOD ALTERNATIVE but all other fisheries and techniques are rated AVOID.
