Marlin is a family (Istiophoridae) of large, predatory fish that are closely related to swordfish. They are popular sport fish in tropical waters, which has led to overfishing.
The members of the marlin family are:
- Blue marlin, which includes both the Indo-Pacific blue marlin and Atlantic blue marlin, which are generally understood to be the same species.
- Striped marlin, also known as Pacific striped marlin
- White marlin
- Atlantic sailfish
- Indo-Pacific sailfish
