Strauben is a sweet pastry in Germany and Austria that is formed by pouring a batter of flour, milk, eggs, butter, and sugar through a funnel into a pan of hot oil. Once the batter is cooked, the resulting pastry is drained and garnished with powdered sugar and berry jam. It is very similar to the American funnel cake.
