Sahlab (or salep, sahleb) is a creamy warm beverage prepared across North Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey, made with milk, vanilla, cinnamon, pistachios, and water thickened with cornstarch, and garnished with dried fruits, coconut, nuts, and cinnamon.
It is broadly similar to the Turkish beverage, salep, which was traditionally thickened with orchid root flour but which is now often made with cornstarch as well (see more at salep).
