Quinoa is a flowering plant, cultivated for its edible seeds, which are rich in proteins, fiber, and B vitamins. Unlike most grains, quinoa is not a grass, but is actually related to spinach and amaranth . Quinoa originated in the Andes of South America, and has been cultivated by humans for over 5000 years.
