Parchment paper is a cellulose-based paper treated with silicone, which is used for its nonstick and heat-resistant properties in baking and roasting. It is commonly used for lining baking sheets or wrapping food for cooking en papillote, and can withstand high oven temperatures, typically up to around 420-450°F (215-230°C).
It should not be confused with waxed paper, which cannot be used at oven temperatures.
