Land cress (Barbarea verna), also American cress, bank cress, black wood cress, Belle Isle cress, Bermuda cress, poor man's cabbage, early yellowrocket, early wintercress, scurvy cress, dyland cress, cassabully, creasy greens, and upland cress, is an edible herb native to southern Europe and western Asia that is grown worldwide.
It can be used as a substitute for watercress, either raw in sandwiches in salads, or cooked like spinach. It is a common green in American Appalachian cuisine.
