Juliénas is a French cru in the Beaujolais Appellation d'origine contrôlée . The wines made from this area are noted for their richness and spice with aromas reminiscent of peonies. Growers in this area (like those in Régnié ) claim that this area was the site of the first vineyards planted in Beaujolais by the Romans during this conquest of Gaul.
