Hibachi (Japanese, 火鉢, "fire bowl") is the Japanese term for any brazier, but in a North American context it refers to a small, lightweight, possibly movable cooking stove with a grill, which is usually charcoal-fueled. In Japanese, this kind of stove is called shichirin (七輪). This style of stove is often used for teriyaki-style grilling.
In some areas of North America, the term "hibachi" is used to refer to teppanyaki "iron hot plate" restaurants.
