Not to be confused with Florida pompano or Silver pomfret.
Golden pompano (Trachinotus blochii), also called snubnose pompano, golden pomfret and snubnose dart, or jīnchāng (金鯧) in China and Taiwan, is an Asian Pacific species of pompano. It lives in salt water near rocky reefs and coral reefs, as well as in brackish coastal areas.
Other common names include buck-nosed trevally, oyster cracker, oyster-eater, and snub-nosed swallowtail.
It is farmed in many Asian countries and generally commands a high price.
