Coquilles Saint Jacques is the French term for the great scallop (which is also known as the Saint John scallop), or for a classic French preparation of scallops sautéed in butter with mushrooms, onion, and white wine, topped with Gruyère cheese and breadcrumbs and lightly broiled.
