Affunnatielle is an egg dish from Molise, a small region of southern Italy. It is made by sautéing peppers and tomatoes in a pan with herbs until they thicken into a sauce, and then placing raw eggs into wells in the sauce and cooking until the eggs have just started to set.
It is very similar to the Eastern Mediterranean dish, shakshouka.
