Yak butter tea is a rich, high-energy drink of yak butter and black tea, sometimes with barley powder added, from the yak-herding regions of the Himalayas in Nepal, Tibet, and Mongolia.
A paste of yak butter, barley paste, optional curds, and tea is called tsampa in Tibetan, and used as a quick meal.
