The sweet violet (Viola odorata), also called the wood violet, English violet and common violet, is a delicate, small plant with strongly-scented purple or white flowers. The fragrance of these flowers, which is also extracted from the leaves, is used to make a variety of perfumes, spirits, and liqueurs.
