Strawberries Romanoff is a dessert made with strawberries in Grand Marnier or Cointreau, served on softened ice cream, and topped with lightly sweetened whipped cream.
The dish was invented by Auguste Escoffier while he was running the Carlton Hotel restaurant in London, where he called it "Strawberries Américaine Style." It was renamed, and popularized, by Mike Romanoff, the owner of Romanoff's restaurant in Los Angeles (with no connection to the Russian royal family).
