Grunt and slump (the names are interchangable) are American fruit desserts from New England. Similar to cobblers, they are made by cooking berries or diced fruit under biscuit dough; unlike a cobbler, a grunt is topped with a rolled-out slab of biscuit dough, rather than spoon-dropped biscuits.
