Rührkuchen (German, "stirred cake") is a German cake style, similar to a pound cake or sponge cake, that is based on butter, egg, flour, sugar, and milk. Like pound and sponge cakes, a chemical leavener may be introduced, or the eggs may be whipped to introduce enough air to leaven the crumb. See marble cake for the American version.
