Red kuri squash, sometimes also called Japanese squash, Hokkaido squash, baby red hubbard squash, uchiki kuri, or, in the United Kingdom, onion squash, is a thin-skinned orange-colored winter squash with firm, sweet, nutty flesh. It is popular in Japan, where the word "kura" can also mean "chestnut", possibly due to its nutty flavor.
