Pekoe tea, or orange pekoe tea, is the highest grade of black tea in the Western tea trade. The use of "orange" in this term has nothing to do with the orange plant, and is in fact of uncertain origin, referring either to the Dutch House of Orange-Nassau or to the color of high-quality tea leaves before they are dried.
